The common thing about children is that they love to play. They play with just about anything. If they see your book lying around, they’ll pick it up and who knows what they will end up doing with it. There is always something they can do with anything they lay their eyes or put their hands on. It is important that they which their educational wooden toys are and which are not.
Here are some tips to refrain your child from playing with valuable things at home.

1. Don’t give them the impression that they can play with everything. There are defected items at home, like cut wires or an old remote control. As much as possible, don’t let your child play with it. It will give them the impression that they can play with any wires at home, which can be very dangerous. Don’t hand them old useless items as well because they can construed it as a permission to play with the things at home as well.

You can let them explore with these things if they are old enough to understand their limitations. Make sure that they educational learning toys that not everything is their toys.

1. Communicate with your child constantly. Tell them that they are not supposed to play with your things because they are not toys in the first place. If you have toddlers around, they may not be able to understand it at first, but they will get your point as they grow. So don’t think that it is a useless effort to talk to them about your rules.

1. Keep your things out of their reach. As mentioned above, toddlers may not understand your rules right away.  To avoid them from fondling with your stuff, put it in a place where they can’t reach it.  

1. If you don’t want your child to play with something, keep it out of sight. There are learning toys that look similar with the items at home such as kitchen utensils and your child’s kitchen toys. There is always a tendency for your child to mistake some of the tools at home for their toys. This is improper and unsafe at the same time. If you are not using these tools, keep it. And make sure that your child won’t have access to it while it is hidden.

1. Place your child’s toys in one place. Once your child’s toys are in one place, he will know where to look for it every time he wants to play. This will avoid him from looking for toys elsewhere. This will also prevent him from coming across with the different household items. Educational toys where all his toys are will also teach him to return it in the same area. Thus teaching him to organize his things as well.

Also children educational toys normally want to learn about new things. They are particularly interested with things that are unusual to them. To ensure that your child does not play with the things that you don’t want them to play with, hinder them from gaining access to it. This way, they will learn that not everything is their toys.
