How to Prepare an Outreach Program for Kids

Your school, organization, your family and group of friends may have at one point considered helping a community or even some underprivileged children by lending your one afternoon teaching them, or preparing a meal and even distributing some discount learning toys that will surely be a hit among the kids. It is a good feeling to help these kids on outreach programs because you are helping not only your community but these kids as well. Furthermore, you will feel light knowing that you were able to do good to a lot of kids. They also say that helping can bring you a lot of good karma.

In preparing for your outreach program, select a good location preferably with kids that you already know in your community. You can also select some orphanages in your area which you think that will need your help the most or who would appreciate the learning toys for kids that you will donate. Call the orphanage who handles these kids and tell them your intention. After that, invite your friends or family to spend one Sunday for these kids. Plan what you can do such as making a program for the kids and raise funds for their food. You can also prepare some games and some presentation numbers such as singing and dancing. Or you may also just let an adult handle a kid. It really depends how you and your group will spend your afternoon.

Once you were able to plan what you will do, then you can start collecting these educational learning toys. You can ask your friends to donate their toys that you will not use anymore. You can even make some flyers and distribute to your neighbors so that they can also donate toys to your cause. In fact, if your homeowners association and even the local government finds out about your activity, they will be happy to help you in your cause.

To raise funds for their foods, you could make some sandwiches and juice for them. You could even hold a garage sale so that you could buy foods and even more educational toys. If your neighbors find out your reason for the garage sale, then you will surely be able to sell all your goods.

Before your big day, call the orphanage so that you will be able to confirm your attendance and for them to brief you on what you can and cannot do. Then call your group and discuss your planned activities. You can also wrap the toys with a gift wrapper for good presentation. Check what you still need and check what you already have such as food. Bid your friends goodbye to rest and tell them to sleep early and just enjoy the day. On the day of the outreach program, don’t forget to bring the food, children educational toys, and a lot of smiles. Outreach programs are just easy and fun and you also make a lot of kids happy.
