Taking Care of Your Kid’s Building Toys

Toys are pretty much like a friend to your kid. They make him happy, calm him when he’s cranky, and teach him important lessons. And kids value their toys as much as we value our own personal adult things like cellular phone, wallet or photo albums.

However, unlike us, young children do not have the capacity to take care of their precious belongings well enough to make them last a long time. It is up to you as parent to look after the toys he loves.

One of your kid’s favourite toys, his building construction toys also deserve much care and attention just like any other of his toys.

An important caring tip for your kid’s building toys is to clean them regularly. You can wash his stackable Guidecraft Loc-Blocs in a basin of water and soap. Just be sure to rinse it thoroughly to remove soap residue. Or you can place his toy blocks in the dishwasher rack to clean them up, provided that they are dishwasher safe.

It is also necessary to have a container where you can keep your sets of building toys together. Remember, building toys especially constructible play sets have many small parts. To avoid losing any part, always have your kid place them in a plastic tub or his toy chest after he’s done playing.

Even bigger building toys like Melissa & Doug Alphabet Nesting and Stacking Blocks should also have their own storage so that your kid would never lose a K or Z block and would always have a complete alphabet set.

Kids who usually eat or drink while playing may accidentally spill his juice or cracker dip on his building toys. Remove stains before they settle in especially in cloth covered blocks. Have baby wipes handy for situations like this for immediate stain treatment.

Furthermore, teach your kid to take care of his building toys. At first he may not be cooperative in putting away his toys after playing. But once he couldn’t find his favourite Galt Marble Racer, take this opportunity to educate your child about the importance of taking care of his toys.

Aside from that, teach him not to abuse his toys. Toys although they are inanimate objects still deserve proper treatment. Don’t allow him to throw around his or smash them against the wall. Show him the proper way of playing with these toys and create fun games for him that will not cause harm on his building toys.

such as building toys are an integral part of your child’s learning development. Maximize a toy’s potential of being a learning tool by taking care of it and by making sure that your kid is able to play with it long enough for him to explore it to the fullest.
